Allen is a Member of Raytheon Space and Airborne (SAS) Solutions and Architecture. Allen has been an IT Fellow at SAS since 2006. Allen provides Enterprise Architecture support and solutions for the IT projects at SAS. Allen has been with Raytheon (and Hughes) since 1976. Allen earned his BS in Physics in 1974, and as a Hughes Fellow received his Masters in Physics in 1981; both from UCLA. In 1983 Allen joined the VLSI/Corporate CAD program. In 1989 Allen joined Hughes Space & Communications where he managed the development of Satellite Operations. From 1992 until December 1997, Allen managed Support Services (Facilities, CM/DM, Procurement and IT) for Satellite Ground Systems and Operations.
In December of 1997, Allen joined Hughes Corporate IT, as the System Engineer and Technical Lead of IT Infrastructure Projects. After Hughes merged with Raytheon, Allen became a member of the Raytheon IT Shared Services (RITS) organization as the Project Manager, Architect, and Champion for Collaboration tools. When RITS was dissolved, Allen went back to the Business Unit, first at Electronic Systems, and then SAS.
In 2006, Allen became the first IT Fellow in SAS. His current responsibilities include Enterprise Architectures and Standards for SAS, RFID architecture, Innovation Support, Mobility, Mentoring, and Enterprise Integration. Duties also include: Engineering Support, Emerging Technology, Enterprise Architecture, and Strategic Planning. Allen is a member of several Enterprise teams including, Enterprise Architecture & Standards Council (EASC), the Collaboration Community of Practice (CCoP) and Emerging Technology and represents SAS on the Video Conferencing Team.
Allen has served on the Raytheon Management Club Board as its IT Chair for 10+ years; is actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America (Troop 927, Thunderbird District, and LAAC) and at the Hamilton Academy of Music, where he supports Technology. Allen also coordinates and sponsors Raytheon’s participation in the Wireless Internet for Mobile Enterprise Consortium (WINMEC) at UCLA (5+ years). Allen recently completed the Raytheon Certified Architecture Program (RCAP), and received his Architecture Certification in TOGAF.
