Announcing the DSF Global Digital Out-of-Home Council

The Digital Signage Federation (DSF), the only independent not-for-profit trade organization serving the digital signage industry, recently announced the establishment of The Digital Signage Federation Global Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) Council, an affiliate organization with a worldwide purview specifically to support the needs of companies involved in the intersection between out-of-home advertising and the digital signage industry. 

The primary objective of the DSF Global Digital Out-of-Home Council, the first officially global digital out-of-home-focused organization, is to provide a resource for DSF members to build their capacity to support out-of-home advertising companies, agencies and brands. The DSF took the opportunity to announce this news in Las Vegas during Digital Signage Expo 2017 late last month, and as Board Member and SmartBomb Media Group CEO/Founder Sheldon Silverman says in the video below, the main driver for this development came from discussions with large media agencies that felt there was dissonance within the industry about where exactly DOOH sat in relation to the rest of the digital marketing ecosystem.

Enter the DSF, which is uniquely poised to serve as an “interstitial touch point” on this issue as it continues to evolve, flesh itself out and get to work on conformity of analytics, ad buying and technology deployment.

Digital Signage Federation logo“We’re pretty excited about the feedback we’ve been getting from making this announcement,” said DSF Executive Committee Chairman and NEC Vice President of Business Development & Solutions Richard Ventura. “It’s been very positive, and we’ve already seen an exponential increase in membership from members of the Digital Out-of-Home community because of this launch. I’m looking forward to working with the council and really showing the industry what we can do.”

The plans are to announce the European segment of the council including brands and network operators during the second week of May 2017 as part of London Digital Signage Week.
