Mr. Daniel Lindstrom is the Manager of the Wayside Communications Department of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
The Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority is unique among the nation's transportation agencies. It serves as transportation planner and coordinator, designer, builder and operator for one of the country's largest, most populous counties. MTA operates three modes of transit service bus, light rail, and heavy rail, averaging over 1.3 million boarding’s per weekday.
Mr. Lindstrom began his transit career as an Electronic Communications Technician. He has been with the MTA for 27 years. During those 27 years he has worked in many positions including Systems Communications Technician, Farebox Maintenance Supervisor, Systems Communications Supervisor, Rail Communications Supervisor and Rail Communications Assistant Manager. He serves on the advisory committee for the Electronic Department at Los Angeles Trade Technical College.
In recent years, Mr. Lindstrom has been increasingly involved in the development and replacement of many of the Wayside Communications systems. He was the project manager and designer of the Metro Video Security System upgrade (Project Guardian). This included the installation of over 500 cameras, 90 DVR’s, a new fiber network and a 28 screen command center. He was the Project Manager for the Transit Passenger Information System that installed nearly 300 LCD displays in the Metro subway. Currently he is project manager for seven project including the Rail Digital Radio Project.
