How could the digital signage industry be greener than it already is?
That’s a tough question, as one of the core tenets of digital is to replace print, and being green is a side effect of that. We have also done a good job as an industry of removing many toxic chemicals (such as mercury) from products manufactured for our use. These trends should continue. Recycling should also be a bigger focus while ensuring that retired assets like media players and displays are disposed of properly and recycled correctly. Finally, power consumption has come down, but continuing improvements in efficiency would further extend this concept. So we still have room for improvement, however slight it may be, and it will add up over the many displays out there.
