What was the biggest takeaway from Digital Signage Expo 2017 that you’ve been able to use or implement in the months since the show?”

The biggest takeaway from Digital Signage Expo 2017 that I’ve been able to use since the show is related to a new large-format sign installation planned for early 2018. We completed an install of two 44-foot by 14-foot direct-view LEDs just over a year ago. We were very happy with the hardware selected and were on a default path to consider relying on our past work when developing this new location. DSE 2017 provided a reminder for how fast technology changes, especially with digital signage. More providers are in the mix than ever before, and this competition has positively impacted design, quality of the displays and overall affordability. As a result of the show, I recommended a complete reevaluation of the pending install. This evaluation will ensure that our planned design and component selection is correct. It will also  ensure that our planned budget impact is accurate. This might result in us staying the course with our current plan, but if it does, it will be with a much higher degree of confidence in the selected components and the estimated budget.
