In a magical digital signage world, I would ask the industry to standardize the facial recognition technology and incorporate cameras and a user-friendly back-end system into the displays. The merging of these technologies would open the doors to even more dynamic capabilities. End users can then use their customer and demographic data to customize targeted messaging to their existing customers and new potentials. Just imagine if you had a system that can be pre-programmed to recognize young adults as your target demographic. Each time the camera system recognizes that target customer, the display would show content that’s appealing, thus moving that potential customer closer to a sale.
