If you could magically ask the digital signage industry for anything at all, some new innovation that would dazzle and amaze your clients and peers, what would it be?”

If I could magically ask the digital signage industry for anything, I think it would have to be a truly, truly intuitive Content Management System. 

Why you ask?

Well, for the better part of the last year, my team has fed content to screens on buses, subway cars and on subway platforms using not one, not two, but six individual CMSs. While many of these were tied to pilots, we found more often than not that the U/X of these systems left much to be desired. 

Often, it took too many clicks to load content with too many trees to open. We used scheduling modules that felt like early Excel spreadsheets, and the nomenclature  wasn’t uniform at all. Heck, designing the system from scratch felt easier. We’ve used what was alleged to be the most simple and easy to understand as well as the most powerful enterprise systems known to the industry (or so we were told).  Can’t someone design a CMS that is truly drop, click and submit? I mean it’s just content, right?
