What are some good examples of digital signage audio, and what makes them appropriate? ”

Not all digital signage networks have audio, nor do they require it, especially when creative has been customized for the environment with a mix of graphics and text so that the viewer can understand the message simply by seeing it. Audio paired with digital signage networks is most suitable when the network serves as the primary source of sound in the venue, and does not compete with significant ambient noise and/or other sources of audio.  Relevant examples of networks with ubiquitous sound include cinema and those in health clubs that serve as the gym’s primary audio combined TV and music station.  Audio-based digital signage also works very well in aperture points that have a captive audience such as taxicabs and gas stations.

Some environments simply do not lend themselves to a good audio experience especially those that are outdoors or in crowded venues where there may be multiple streams of competing audio, TV and digital signage, thus some are even muted to prevent interference.

The Tunity mobile app allows out-of-home viewers of live TV to stream audio directly to their phones, a great option when muted TVs are playing what you want to watch at bars, gyms, airports and other places. Tunity can also integrate with digital signage,  providing the opportunity to engage viewers when sound is needed or wanted, but not a feature of the actual screen.  Consumers with the app simply scan the screen, or TV, with their mobile device to get the live audio streamed directly to their device. Tunity works directly with respective digital signage networks to establish compatibility et al.
