What improvements have you seen in hardware that have made it easier to install, operate and maintain displays in outdoor locations?”

Outdoor menu boards have been a challenging space for us the last few years. Reliability in the harsher climates has tested even the most robust equipment. The media player we had survived the heat, but somehow, the power brick melted! With 70 percent of our business through the drive-thru, failure of an outdoor display directly impacts our sales. However, we have seen a few changes in hardware to help with issues. Offering display solutions that do not need a climate-controlled enclosure and units that do not require weekly servicing of fan filters have been great steps to help with reliable outdoor solutions. Operations should not be in the business of maintaining outdoor displays.  It should just work and be cost effective, but this still is not the case for a majority of outdoor display hardware today.
