Ask the Board – May 15, 2017 | JESSE BREIDINGER

What improvements have you seen in hardware that have made it easier to install, operate and maintain displays in outdoor locations?”

The improvements that I’ve seen made in terms of outdoor hardware relate to my experience with concession digital menu boards within NFL stadiums.  In the past, outdoor displays required large external boxes to protect the screens from the elements including weather and extreme temperatures.  However, they’ve evolved to not require an outdoor “shield,” and can stand alone as a sleek screen with new materials that stand up to those external elements. In addition, I’ve seen the screens evolve to allow a consumer to view them more easily as it relates to lighting where an indoor screen is very hard to see when in direct sunlight.  These enhancements have made the screens easier to install and operate in addition to lowering the costs over time.  When looking at maintenance, it will be seen if these need more maintenance and repair over time without the additional protection.
