What improvements have you seen in hardware that have made it easier to install, operate and maintain displays in outdoor locations?”

I have seen many improvements over the years, and it will get better with time. One of the many improvements in outdoor LED displays is the front access panels that utilize magnets. This has made installation and maintenance much easier. Another great improvement is the weight of LED units has dramatically decreased. The weight decrease is due to smaller power supply units, use of aluminum, vast improvement in plastics and significant reduction in wiring. These improvements have reduced installation time, shipping fees and cost to power outdoor locations. Back in 2000, it took about 5 watts per pixel to power a display. Today’s new and improved LED outdoor displays run on approximately .2 watts per pixel.
