What does the future of eco-friendly digital signage look like in terms of power consumption?

There has been and continues to be a concerted effort by manufacturers to reduce the operating costs of digital signage. This is evident in each of the primary components such as players and displays. Today, players are smaller and produce less heat thereby reducing the need to operate cooling fans while maintaining quality output display of content. Display manufacturers are also making inroads to lessen the power required by monitors as well as their physical thickness. LED manufacturers can now build displays with pixels close to LCD, permitting a significant reduction in heat creation and reducing power consumption. In addition to these voluntary, practical efforts, the state of California’s Energy Commission identified digital signage as appliances covered under their regulation of power consumption last year.
