How can you make digital signage environmentally respectful?”

Many digital signage customers may not realize it, but Energy Star has created new categories within the last few years for professional displays and digital media players.  Products that have this Energy Star rating have been tested and certified to meet the energy efficiency requirements of the program.  According to the Department of Energy, “if all professional displays sold in the United States were ENERGY STAR certified, the energy cost savings would grow to about $205 million each year and 3 billion pounds of annual greenhouse gas emissions would be prevented.”  There are other steps that you can take to reduce energy consumption such as reducing brightness and enabling power save modes during off hours.  In many cases, these features can be automated and can even be based on foot traffic.  To find Energy Star certified products, visit www.energystar.gov.
