Templates go a long way when it comes to creating content. The ease of creating a polished message with a template can’t be beat when it comes to end users with little time and lots of content requests. Create a variety of templates to have in your arsenal, and you’ll never be without an option for a quick turnaround request. You can take it one step further and create templates that put your resources to work for you. For example, do you have access to lots of video clips or fresh photography? Create templates that let you easily drop these resources into place and go from there. (Hint – this is only helpful if you have these resources at your disposal. If you don’t, it only creates more work trying to find something that fits the message.)
Another option is to enlist others to help create content. Provide them with branded templates that meet your level of approval and ask them to build their own messages. These other users can then submit to you for final approval before posting. Some content management systems have this workflow built in already, so why not put it to work for you?
Other options include holding contests that encourage staff to submit content. “Send us a photo of your favorite spot on campus.” Or even, “Share your photos showing where you wear our company logo, and your image might be featured in our next Logo on Location segment.” These types of contests bring the content to you, free of charge.
