Why do you think we’ve seen an increase in focusing on displays and hardware rather than concepts and communication?
I feel that the focus on displays and hardware, rather than concepts and communication is because it is easier to sell the “wow” factor to the administration.
If I produce great content with advanced control, it would be considered a good job. If I show them a massive curved screen display with a video of a dog catching a Frisbee, then I am a hero. The people who are involved with the projects understand the purpose of signage, but sometimes the people with the budget want the newest and biggest display. I feel it is a balance of catching the eye and delivering the message. Both are dependent on the other.
