Are there any appropriate applications for consumer displays in your experience? Why or why not?

I generally do not use consumer screens for a digital signage roll out. I do use them for conference rooms where I do not need them on 24/7. They are turned on before a meeting and then turned off afterwards. When we do digital signage in a store, we usually build a case around the display or daisy chain them. It is hard to build a case around a consumer screen due to the bezels not being the same size or close on all sides. Also, consumer displays do not have the settings to turn the screens to a portrait mode. For connecting multiple monitors, the professional displays have a loop through and tiling mode built into them.
