“How many people should be “in charge” of a digital sign?”
This is a REALLY tough question. I bet a lot of people will answer “ONE!” to make management simpler, but in my experience, it takes a coordinated team to manage a signage network. Since most people don’t have mastery of all areas of expertise, I think we need a minimum of three managers who report to the total team of stakeholders; an IT manager to handle the management of the IT/hardware aspects, a content manager to handle the marketing and content development, and an operations manager to handle the logistics of the day-to-day operation. There will likely be a much larger team, but having these three management roles allows closer collaboration and easier interaction with the stakeholders … of which there will be many, and many of them should not necessarily be directly managing the network.
