“What are three things you believe will be dramatically different in the digital signage market five years from now?”
- Advancements in Display Hardware– we will likely see lower costs in current technologies such as OLED, which will result in higher adoption. This means five years from now, our screens will be as thin as ever, lightweight, weather proof, physically flexible, and printable, all with improved display quality.
- Interactivity– This can mean that more digital signage will offer touchscreen experiences in large(r) formats. Beyond touchscreen interaction, this can also include more AR experiences wbeing offered where customers can interact with signage beyond an analog format.
- Personalization/1:1 Marketing – Slight overlap between this and “interactivity,” but this is more about driving 1:1 marketing/personalization with customers. This can include things like games that are broadcasted on digital screens and display customer names and scores, or store signage that displays personalized offers based on beacon or geofencing technology. This could also include the use of more dynamic content, for example, signage changes when certain weather hits (cold weather -> hot drinks; hot weather -> cold drinks).
