QR codes have been around since 1994 and are probably going to be around for at least a little while longer. New technologies like NFC and SnapTag are constantly improving on the things where QR codes fall short.
These tools offer great potential for marketers because it enables them to engage with customers in a more unique way. If you want new, creative ways to engage with consumers, consider SMS short codes, Bluetooth, Image Recognition, or Augmented Reality.
If the QR code does not evolve, it will soon become outdated as other new technology becomes the next best option for marketers’ ever-changing need for adaptability and usefulness.
