“What technology will replace Quick Response (QR) codes in the future?”

QR codes have been around for quite some time, but require another application such as a QR code reader in order to scan. Near Field Communication (NFC) tags do not require an application to scan. In addition, the majority of smartphones have the NFC chip technology built in, which allows one to just “tap and go.” Apple Pay is an example of NFC technology. There is another technology out there called SnapTags, but I am unfamiliar with how this technology works and the difference between NFC and QR codes.
