“Do you have a plan in place if your display manufacturer either goes out of business or quits providing certain parts?”

Planning support and maintenance for displays is not only very important, but it is also important to understand and factor in the useful life of the display to be able to plan for warranty support, allow for any available extended support and then, ultimately, plan for replacement.

My preference is to fully extend the manufacturer’s warranty to have the confidence that the display is covered for failures for the period that the manufacturer states is the display’s useful life. In this industry, though, we all like to manage our investments and expenses as wisely as possible, which means that in many cases, we have displays in use beyond their warranty coverage. In this case, the best protection is to have a representative pool of spares comprised of complete units and spare parts.

When the warranty has expired and spares are no longer available, the only real option is replacement.
