“Do you have a plan in place if your display manufacturer either goes out of business or quits providing certain parts?”


Hopefully, the display manufacturer and the touch solution company we use will not go out of business. With that said, we tell everyone involved with every installation, “After the warranty is up, you must be willing to install new hardware.” While they may not be happy to hear that the installation they just spent a year planning and getting funding for will be out of warranty and may need to be replaced in three years, that is reality.

The biggest challenge we have faced in this regard is when the display manufacturers change the chassis between models. When this happens, we have to pay our touch solutions vendor to CAD new touch solutions for those new chassis. This is because we have been able to partner with a touch solution company who provides us with a touch solution integrating the monitor and touch technology we want with giving us a finished product with a depth of 3 ⅞” to be ADA compliant when flush mounted to the wall. (Flush mounting our monitors came from the experience of having a monitor recessed into the wall and not being able to get the same sized monitor for replacement.)

We will never be able to look into the crystal ball and see what companies will be there 10 years down the road. All we can do is come up with initial installations that will be flexible to the available hardware of the future when they need replacement.
