I would say that the best way to go about this is to not ask for content or ideas outright. Get the employees experientially involved in the effort first.
Ask… Have they seen the new digital signage campaign?
(Tell them where they can see it, and it’s best if it’s in the same environment your customers would. Also, tell them what the goals of the campaign are)
Next… What did they think about it, in terms of advancing the company/business/brand goals?
And… How well does it work in concert with other company communications?
And… How did it make them feel about the company?
Then ask… How could it be better? The message… The delivery … applying the capability of digital signage.
