“What are some of the ways to get employees involved in generating content (or content ideas) for a digital signage network?”
In the world of retail, the best way that I’ve found to get my team members involved in content decisions is to have them do something that they often do. Go shopping! They too are shoppers out in malls and other areas with digital signage. Invite them to share their unique perspectives and ideas.
Digital content ideation can also come from the store staff and management in your stores. They’re closer to the customer base, local event and promotional opportunities, so consider inviting them to help feed into your content plan.
The beauty of digital signage is the ability to quickly deliver content solutions. Build a process where your in-field staff can easily communicate content needs or change requests to your HQ or content management team.
I encourage the management and staff of any digital signage operator to schedule time to go into the field to explore ways of improving content. Consider your target viewer, traffic flow, dwell times and regional variations.
Having your digital teams and retail employees in the field not only helps expand your feedback network, but it also aids you in developing the right content for the right time in the right place.
