“Does gesture control really have a place in digital signage, or is it a flash-in-the-pan trend?”

For me, gesture control is more of a “flashy” item than something that is really useful in a digital signage application, the one exception being Mobile Accessibility. Mobile Accessibility is critical to reaching all audiences.  A product is accessible when a person with a disability can have an experience equivalent to that of a person without a disability. In my experience, it’s much easier for a person with disabilities to use gesture control then it is for more traditional methods. It allows the person to interact with the screen more freely and with fewer restrictions. As always, when designing an interactive digital signage solution, you should ensure ADA compliance… gesture control could be one way to achieve that.
