“What is your opinion on using traditional video wall panels vs. tight-pitch LEDs?”

It really depends on the application. Will the display be exposed to direct sunlight? What’s the average viewing distance? Will your display be straight, or will it curve? And the biggest question is, “What is your budget?”

If your display is going to be outside and potentially facing the sun, you may want to opt for direct view LED. Base on the NITS (brightness), you’ll need a higher number to make sure your display still looks great at high noon.

Viewing distance is another determining factor when comparing LED vs. standard LCD screens. Storefront video walls at a viewing distance of three to six feet are better suited for panels if cost is a factor. LED wall applications with a short viewing distance will garner a hefty price. For maximum quality, pixel pitch at that distance should be in the neighborhood of 1mil to 2mil. Keep in mind (in most cases) the smaller pixel pitch the higher the cost.

These are just a few questions that need to be answered before choosing video wall over tight-pitch LED.
