“What are some of the most effective ways to utilize smaller surfaces for signage or projection?”
In an airport setting, it is an ongoing challenge to get passengers to read wayfinding signage even when we make them very large. So, to place wayfinding on a small surface seems like it would be an exercise in futility. However, inside of a retail store or restaurant, when the customer is separated from the noise, all of the signage in the airport is, in theory, focused on one store or one brand (captive environment), then the creative and dynamic characteristics of small scale digital signage could be beneficial. In the case of a restaurant, for example, digital menus for viewing or a kiosk for ordering offer an operator the opportunity to keep their offerings fresh and expedite the customer’s experience, which is always a consideration in the airport.
