“In a busy setting, do animation and sound in particular distract viewers from absorbing your messages, or do they help to draw attention? How much is too much?”

In a busy environment, there will be a lot of noise, visually and with sound, to distract and attract the customer.  I think that this presents some challenges to gaining and keeping attention.  Audible cues become a challenge and may not be as effective.  However, animation definitely can play a part. In this scenario, you will not be able to keep attention long, so animation should be used to attract the eye around messaging that is simple and clear to the consumer.  Make it an easy read, as you won’t be able to tell a long story. Innovation stands out as well.  If you are doing something unique visually, you’ll have a better chance of getting that second look or longer view.
