BROOKINGS, S.D. – Apr. 2, 2018 – Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, manufactured and installed a new LED display for Wharton Properties at the prime location of 1565 Broadway, between 46th and 47th Streets in Times Square, New York City. The display adds to the company’s deep portfolio of products installed in the Square and was completed in December before the annual new year celebration in the city’s iconic location.
The new LED display measures 53 feet high by 19 feet wide featuring 10-millimeter line spacing. It replaces Wharton’s static signage with digital technology, expanding their digital footprint within the square as it brings messages to one of the heaviest foot-traffic areas in the United States.
The display features Daktronics city louvers, a display face enhancement allowing for targeted viewing from pedestrian traffic while blocking the sun away from the display face. The result is crisp, clear imagery with excellent contrast for an image that won’t be washed out by ambient light.
“Wharton was looking to ensure they installed the same quality and impact of the adjacent Daktronics displays in Times Square, and they needed to complete it on a very tight, New Year’s Eve-driven timeline,” said Randy Antes, Daktronics regional sales manager. “Our project management, technicians and installation supervisors worked diligently to complete the installation ahead of the Square’s biggest event.
“The display provided Wharton the opportunity to deliver spectacular digital content to the Times Square and global television audiences taking in the new year festivities. Exacting measures in planning and execution by our team paid off to meet the deadline and the display looks phenomenal.”
