Digital Signage Expo 2017 to Present “Notes From the Field: Testing the Latest Technology for Audience Metrics”


AtlantaDigital Signage Expo (DSE), the world’s largest international trade show and educational conference dedicated to digital displays, interactive technology and digital communications networks, announced today that as part of its Digital Signage Seminar Program at DSE 2017, designed specifically for digital out-of-home network operators, it will offer a session entitled, “Notes From the Field: Testing the Latest Technology for Audience Metrics.”

On Thursday, March 30 at 2 p.m., Kelly McGillivray, President and Chief Methodologist of Peoplecount, will present a session that will help attendees make sense of the latest technological advancements in the audience measurement toolbox, including Wi-Fi, cellular data, beacons, facial recognition and object detection, among others. Real-life examples illustrate how to meet the challenges, capitalize on the advantages, and recognize the limitations of these solutions in terms of accuracy, ease of use, economics and privacy concerns. Learn what kind of data to expect, when certain technologies should and should not be used, and how to ask vendors the right questions.

Attendees will:

  • Discover practical insights into the various technology solutions now available to enrich audience measurement and customer analytics.
    • Gain an understanding of the complexity, time and economic investments necessary to ensure good results, with a warning that not all solutions are as “plug and play” as sales pitches claim.
    • Understand which technologies are best suited to your digital signage networks and how to get started with implementation.

“Digital signage end users, DOOH networks and media buyers are faced with conflicting information from vendors and unclear messages on which technology is appropriate for the environment and purpose,” said McGillivray. “I’ll be breaking down the various technologies, suggesting when to use what, offering some anecdotes and tips from our own field tests and providing valuable advice on vendor selection.”
