Warrenton, VA – The Digital Signage Federation (DSF), the only independent not-for-profit trade organization serving the digital signage industry is pleased to announce that it has awarded its 2016 Geri Wolff Scholarship to Savannah McNulty, a third-year student at the Savannah College Art & Design.
Ms. McNulty, who has declared her major in Graphic Design and is interested in pursuing a career in the digital signage industry said, “The content of our signs should generate ideas, sensations, knowledge, and ultimately leave the person who sees it with something to take away from the experience.” She added, “I am eager to learn more about the practical applications of graphic design using the medium of digital signage.”
Geri Wolff, the DSF’s Director of Marketing & Communication said that her namesake scholarship was established, “To raise the awareness of digital signage as a career choice among qualified young women who are committed to a professional career in computer sciences and related fields.” She added, “This award is also intended to help broaden employment diversity, by encouraging employers to hire qualified women in a variety of IT capacities and help ensure a talented and qualified labor pool for our fast-growing industry.”
The scholarship was created with the vision of Ms. Wolff in support of the need to encourage more women to make career choices that involve digital signage. The scholarship is supported by individual contributions, including Ms. Wolff’s annual donation, which is matched by the DSF and includes proceeds from the DSF Golf Tournament.
Scholarship recipients are selected annually by the Digital Signage Federation Education Committee based on academic record, professional references, a declared major and commitment to a career in computer sciences, specifically in digital signage.
Awards are made to women enrolled full time in an accredited university with a declared major in computer sciences, and committed to graduation. Consideration is also given to applicants with exemplary credentials and commendable work ethic.
The two major contributors to the DSF Golf Tournament include Platinum Sponsor Peerless AV and Diamond Sponsor Ingram Micro.
Nick Belcore, Executive Vice President at Peerless-AV said, “The digital signage profession holds many opportunities for our youth and through programs such as the DSF Geri Wolff Scholarship Fund, our industry is able to aid in educating students about this field.” He added, “As a proud member of the Digital Signage Federation, Peerless-AV is happy to support this scholarship through initiatives like the pre-DSE golf tournament.”
Donations to the DSF’s Geri Wolff Scholarship Fund, to help expand this effort going forward, are welcome from any individual or organization that would like to help foster the advancement of women in the digital signage industry.
