Flu Season Inspires Contagious Digital Signage

São Paulo, Brazil, the largest city in South America and the tropical epicenter for H1N1 flu outbreaks in 2009 and 2016, is looking to minimize the impact of the respiratory influenza viruses this year with a clever and uniquely interactive digital display rollout. Commissioned by the Ministry of Health as an alert campaign, it was designed by advertising agency CC&P with Mauricio Oliveira and Fernando Freitas working as Creative Directors and Luciano Crisp and Gustavo Andrade working as Art Directors. As the video below illustrates, the screens feature a sneezing man repeatedly spraying water vapor onto pedestrians before reminding them to get vaccinated against the impending threat of flu season.

While mixing digital reality and actual reality in some way, shape or form seems to be a key to the industry’s future, one question, however, does spring to mind. How germ-free and clean is the water that sprays onto passersby if it just sitting stagnantly in the body of a digital display?
