Summary: An investment in QSR and retail digital signage brings both challenges and opportunities. In this webinar, the seventh in the free first-quarter weekly series leading up to Digital Signage Expo 2018, Paul Flippo and Tyler Torti discussed some of the restaurant digital signage use cases they’ve seen and explored the landscape of signage solutions, the common pitfalls in selecting and executing signage solutions and where they see the future of digital signage heading. The 30-minute session was moderated by Sam Oches, editorial director of Food News Media, which publishes QSR and FSR magazines.
Speaker Bios: Paul is a Management Consultant with North Highland. He has deep experience managing people and complex projects in CPG, real estate and telecom industries. His skillset includes program and project management, proximity and mobile solutions, shopper and merchandising strategy, product development and change management. Flippo has an engineering degree from Auburn University and an MBA from Georgia Institute of Technology.
Tyler Torti has been creating award-winning content and experiences for more than 18 years. His career began with a focus on digital content strategy and execution for brands like AT&T, Golf Digest, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and the live events division of William Morris Endeavor. Torti’s career has now spanned most roles in the pre-production, production and post-production process. From concept to completion, he has a deep understanding of the complex components required in the creative development process, with most of his knowledge gained from hands-on experience. Prior to his work at Coke, Torti’s career included work as a writer, producer, photographer, graphic designer, editor, animator and director. In 2014, Torti joined Coca-Cola’s internal creative agency, where he spent three years producing more than 200 projects for Coca-Cola associates, bottlers and customers, giving him an intimate understanding of the diverse content needs of the Coca-Cola system. Now, Torti is blending his wealth of knowledge in creative development with AI and machine learning to champion a next-gen content solution for Coca-Cola customers and bottlers.
Sam Oches is the award-winning editorial director of Food News Media, publisher of QSR and FSR magazines. A graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, Oches previously served as editor in chief of Southeast Ohio magazine and as managing editor of QSR. During his tenure as editor, QSR has been recognized as a Gold Eddie Award winner by Folio and as Magazine of the Year by the Azbee Awards, which honor excellence in business journalism. He’s a past president of the International Foodservice Editorial Council (IFEC), a past board member with the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) and current board member with the ASBPE Foundation. His foodservice insights have been shared in national media outlets such as the New York Times, USA Today, National Public Radio and CNBC. He lives in Durham, North Carolina with his wife and daughter.
