Reflecting on the Inaugural Through Your Lens Video Competition


The Digital Signage Expo’s inaugural Through Your Lens Video Competition has officially wrapped, and congratulations to our first grand prize winner, The Digital Signage Agency powered by DBSI, for its stellar submission video featuring a POV tour of the company’s facility and a custom-made DSE-themed poker chip amongst other inspired details.

Reflecting on the Inaugural Through Your Lens Video CompetitionThis fun and informal contest, originally conceptualized and designed to be an interactive means of involving digital signage and audiovisual industry professionals in a creative process that helped promote DSE 2017 in Las Vegas, now exists as an annual alternative competition for content teams as well as the freelance professionals out there to really show us what they can do in terms of flexing creative video muscle.

The Digital Signage Agency powered by DBSI was announced as the grand prize winner last night as part of the APEX Awards ceremony in the Renaissance Hotel Ballroom. The company’s Art Director Matt Lu had this to say: 

“We are a small but passionate team of disruptors and innovators who are here to steal hearts, minds, and on more than a few occasions, clients. A special thanks to Alisa Semyekhina and Emily Sweillam for pushing the vision of the Digital Signage Agency, providing us with caffeine, snacks and other controlled substances, and inspiring us to jump on any chance to show off our creative chops.  And thank you to DSE for the opportunity to throw down in this little contest. We are excited to be a part of this amazing industry and can’t wait to see what comes next.”

Second and third place went to Premio and CV Media & Design respectively. The three finalists were chosen based on creativity, production value and how well the DSE 2017 theme and slogan of Experience. Engage. Evolve. was integrated into the video submission. With an educational background combining film and journalism, Kushner has shot video and written for a myriad of publications and multimedia projects including Creative Loafing Tampa,, Starline Films and Digital Signage Connection.
