Daktronics has partnered with San Diego State University (SDSU) for a double-sided LED video marquee located near the freeway in San Diego, California. Daktronics manufactured the displays and worked with SDSU and San Diego Electric Sign on this project to bring the designs to life this past fall.
“Daktronics was a great partner on this project,” said Chris Xanthos, associate vice president of business operations and CIO, SDSU. “They understood our needs and issues along with the complexities of having a sign adjacent to a major freeway and provided a solution that addressed all these aspects. The construction and installation went smoothly, and the design of the new sign was executed flawlessly by both Daktronics and San Diego Electric Sign.”
These outdoor LED marquee displays each measure approximately 19 feet high by 38 feet wide and feature a 20-millimeter line spacing. Combined, they provide more than 1,400 square feet of video-capable display area for promoting campus events and sponsored messages.
“We appreciate the opportunity to partner with San Diego State University to upgrade their marquee along Interstate 8,” said Robin Hall, Daktronics regional manager. “The display location provides SDSU with great exposure, and is a valuable asset to the university. The upgraded display and monument fit with the university culture and architectural style, and will allow the university great flexibility to promote the campus.”
Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with consistent, performance and low power consumption. Daktronics will be exhibiting at Digital Signage Expo 2016 at Booth #818.
