STRATACACHE and Scala Join Forces

What happens when you combine the largest American digital signage company with the biggest international digital signage company? Well, the world is about to find out as STRATACACHE, the Dayton, Ohio-based provider of scalable, high-performance digital signage with more than a dozen offices and a presence in 28 countries, just announced the acquisition of supermajority control of the Philadelphia-based Scala Inc.

This development will have a myriad of implications for the two companies and the industry as a whole. Digital Signage Connection caught up with STRATACACHE’s Vice President of Marketing Kelly Silverman to learn more about how the acquisition of Scala will allow both entities to play to their strengths thereby improving experiences for customers spanning the globe.

Stratacache booth at DSE“The news means a lot of things for both STRATACACHE and Scala,” said Silverman. “In addition to accelerating STRATACACHE’s drive to reach $1 billion in annual sales by 2020, the acquisition increases purchasing power through combined volume. Also, hosting from STRATACACHE data centers will enhance customer support and spotlight our commitment to service based on our respective strengths and capabilities.”

The headline, though momentous, came as no big surprise to many industry veterans. For one, mergers between competing companies that offer comparable CMS solutions have been expected for some time. Secondly, STRATACACHE has the infrastructure and therefore the capability to pull off the consolidation while Scala has the name recognition from when it was more or less the only game in town over a decade ago. In that respect at least, this is a match made in digital signage heaven.index

“The bottom line is that the Scala balance sheet was not strong, and now it is,” Silverman added. “STRATACACHE’s financial strength and our combined product offerings will provide a stable and strong company moving forward.”

So, if you thought that the announcement about STRATACACHE and Scala joining forces itself was big news, keep that ear to the ground. She couldn’t reveal too many details, but according to Silverman, STRATACACHE will be announcing several more key moves in regards to strategy and operational synergy over the next few weeks.
