The Spectrum of Pre-Show Education Opportunities at DSE 2016

For 2016, DSE offers in-depth, full-day, pre-show educational experiences for digital out-of-home network operators, retailers, corporate communicators, commercial integrators, architects and designers — as well as other professionals interested in furthering their knowledge and understanding of the role digital technology plays in the fields associated with these occupations.

This varied program includes the Digital Out-of-Home Strategy Summit, PRI Retail Forum, Guided Digital Signage Installation Tour, Digital Signage Certified Expert courses in English and Spanish, and two major co-locating conferences: Ragan Communications’ “Best Practices in Digital Employee Communications” and the SEGD CX Workshop: Customer Experiences.

Let’s start with the two special co-located events, organized by two prestigious organizations and requiring registration separate from the DSE educational program. Participation in either event includes admission to the show floor and the opportunity to attend any of the 24 free presentations offered in the Best Practices and Digital Content Show Theaters. Your expo pass also includes the Wednesday evening Attendee Networking Reception.

A summit for internal communicators to engage employees in a digital world, this two-part event, produced by Ragan Communications, features a pre-conference workshop on Tuesday, March 15 and a main conference on Wednesday and Thursday, March 16-17. The program is designed to educate attendees on how to tap into the technology that fits your culture, how to know if digital signage is right for your company, how to get communications and IT on the same side to gain traction for both, and what key steps to take when you launch mobile in your organization

With its emphasis on Customer Experiences, the SEGD CX Workshop will delve into using design to connect your customers to products, services and places. You will learn about the latest trends for aligning design strategies with digital technology, media and devices to create innovative, connected and meaningful experiences for commercial and retail environments!

The DSE side of the pre-show program likewise involves the co-location of two leading industry organizations, the Platt Retail Institute and Digital Signage Expert Group, but in this case, DSE handles registration through its dedicated registration site. Attendees signing up for a pre-show DSE event have the option of one-, two- or three-day passes, which include seminars, the Wednesday Keynote Thought Leader breakfast and the Thursday Wake Up With DSE! Awards Breakfast. Whatever your package choice, it still includes admission to the show floor and the opportunity to attend any of the 24 free presentations offered in the on-floor workshop theaters as well as the Wednesday evening Attendee Networking Reception.

In addition, you’re eligible to attend the Digital Signage Federation’s complimentary “Future Trends in Digital Signage” breakfast panel about future trends in the practice of digital signage and how these trends could affect future implementations, content management and the business strategy of people using these technologies.

The Digital Out-of-Home Strategy Summit offers a high-level, 35,000-foot perspective on the state of the industry. The conference addresses present and future issues and challenges, including how the medium is measured, who sees it, how effective it is, where it’s located, what it costs and where it fits in the media buyer’s planning.

With the shift to digital technologies, and the intensely competitive nature of the retail industry, there is a growing demand for retail analytics to both justify and leverage these investments. Forum attendees will hear case studies presented by retailers, gain insights into how to implement analytical platforms, and be introduced to the modeling and interpretation of such data. In addition, attendees will learn how to implement actionable insights that can result in improving the customer experience and reducing operating costs.

DSE’s 11th Annual Digital Signage Guided Installation tour will provide customer-facing views and behind-the-scenes insights of some of the best digital signage installations in Las Vegas.

While the most conspicuous manifestations of digital signage in the city are the bright lights along the famous Las Vegas Boulevard “Strip,” the 2016 edition of the escorted six-hour pre-show coach tour is distinguished by the variety of installations, both on and off the Strip. Spokespeople representing the venues and the technology will be on hand to answer questions and speak to the challenges they faced in concept, design and implementation, as well as provide insights into their solutions and results.

In addition, tour attendees will be treated to a networking lunch on their return to the Las Vegas Convention Center, where they can get answers to any lingering installation questions from a panel of experts from many of the companies providing technology to the various sites.

Locations featured in the DSE 2016 Digital Signage Guided Installation Tour will include the Aria Resort & Casino, the Fashion Show Mall, The Mob Museum and Omnia Nightclub.

The Digital Signage Certified Expert program provides a full understanding of all the elements of digital signage and the interconnected technologies that produce the images seen on screen. Industry leaders recognizing the need to provide clarity for those entering digital signage agreed that an impartial, agnostic and vendor neutral training and certification program would provide a platform for continuing education and professional and business growth. The Digital Signage Certified Expert (DSCE) program addresses this need.
