Dubai’s flair for extravagance continues with this record-breaking installation at Festival Bay. Panasonic Marketing Middle East & Africa (PMMAF) and its local agent, Al-Futtaim Panatech (a division of Al-Futtaim Group), have partnered with Dubai Festival City (DFC) for streaming multimedia shows and groundbreaking projection mapping.
The endeavor was called IMAGINE by Laservision, and the collaborators employed Panasonic’s DZ21 laser projectors for their large lumen output and comparatively minimal footprint. Using this cutting-edge technology, the wizards behind the scenes were able to wow audiences with a location-based laser-light show and projection mapping that utilized the nearby Intercontinental Hotel as well as the water and fountain from the neighboring Dubai Creek as a canvas of sorts for the main attraction, which was dubbed Stardancer. The elemental theme continued with fireworks, explosions and the display’s tagline “Fire. Water. Light. Awe.” Check out the video below to see the revolutionary and monumental campaign in action.
The whole project represents 5,000 square meters of transformed surface area thereby creating an attraction for tourists and residents alike in an extremely challenging market. The projected image on the fountain was verified by the Guinness World Records as the largest water screen projection in existence on December 26th, 2016.
