Virginia DOT to Receive 658th Daktronics Display

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Nov. 28, 2017Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, is pleased to announce it has been chosen to design and manufacture 229 new displays along I-395 this year for the Virginia Department of Transportation. In 2012, the DOT installed 83 displays along I-495, following up with 346 signs on I-395/I-95 in 2014, bringing the grand total to 658 Daktronics displays.
While helping to reduce commute times, these displays also help motorists safely navigate busy Virginia freeways, alerting travelers to weather conditions, public safety announcements, Amber AlertsTM, roadway incidents and construction information. Lane reversal and tolling information will appear with varying prices based upon congestion.
“We’ve established a great working relationship with Virginia DOT over the years and are excited to continue our work along the Beltway,” said Koreen Bjorklund, Daktronics Transportation national sales manager. “The additional eight miles will provide new travel options for single-occupant drivers while improving I-395 traffic with an active traffic management system.”
